Paramount Ruler and Agadagba of Arogbo Ijaw Kingdom Debunks Banditry Rumours, Assures Residents of Safety
The Paramount Ruler of Arogbo Ijaw Kingdom, Pere Zacchaeus Doubra Egbunu, Opukutu III, has reassured residents of Agadagba-Obon and surrounding communities that there is no security threat in the area, following widespread rumours alleging the presence of armed bandits within the kingdom.
The monarch’s intervention came after reports circulated across social media platforms claiming that suspected bandits had entered parts of Agadagba-Obon, causing anxiety among residents and triggering concerns about the safety of schools and public places.
Speaking through the palace, the royal father disclosed that an independent verification of the claims was carried out immediately after the reports surfaced. According to findings made available to the palace, there was no evidence to support the allegation that armed men had invaded the community.
Sources consulted during the inquiry reportedly confirmed that normal activities continued across the area and that no security incident linked to banditry was recorded.
As part of efforts to establish the facts, community leaders and education stakeholders were contacted. Information gathered indicated that schools within the area remained calm, while academic activities proceeded without interruption.
The palace also received assurances from community representatives that there was no threat to residents, contrary to the claims circulating online.
Reacting to the development, the monarch urged residents not to panic or allow unverified reports to create fear within the kingdom. He emphasized that peace and security remain priorities for community leaders and stakeholders.
Pere Egbunu further advised members of the public to exercise caution when sharing information, particularly on social media, noting that false reports can generate unnecessary tension and undermine public confidence.
He encouraged residents to rely on credible sources for security-related information and to report suspicious activities through appropriate channels rather than spreading rumours.
The royal father reaffirmed the commitment of traditional institutions within Arogbo Kingdom to working closely with security agencies, community leaders, and relevant authorities to sustain peace and stability across the area.
Meanwhile, residents have been urged to remain law-abiding and continue with their daily activities without fear, as normalcy has been fully restored in Agadagba-Obon and neighbouring communities.
The palace reiterated that no case of bandit invasion was recorded and called on the public to disregard the misinformation currently making the rounds.
