Tension Boils Over in Ese-Odo as Arogbo Youths Reject Allen Oluwatoyin’s Re-Election Plan

A fierce political confrontation is unfolding in Ese-Odo state’s Constituency, following a blistering open letter from the Arogbo Ijaw Ibe Youth Council (AIIYC), which has openly rejected the second term ambition of Hon. Allen Oluwatoyin, serving member representing the constituency in the state of house of Assembly.

In what appears to be a direct challenge to the lawmaker’s political future, the youth council accused him of attempting to upend a long-standing power-sharing structure that has kept peace between key blocs in the area for decades.

The group warned that his re-election bid could ignite serious unrest and destabilize the fragile political order in the constituency.

The strongly worded statement signals rising anger within Arogbo Kingdom, with the group portraying the move as a calculated disregard for an established rotational system between Apoi and Arogbo interests.

According to them, previous leaders, despite their influence, respected this arrangement to avoid conflict, a precedent they insist must not be broken.

Sources within the community suggest that tensions are already escalating, as stakeholders quietly mobilize around the issue, raising fears of a deeper political fracture if the situation is not swiftly addressed.

The council did not mince words in its demand, calling on the lawmaker to abandon his second term aspiration immediately or risk being remembered for triggering avoidable crisis and division.

As pressure mounts, all eyes are now on Allen Oluwatoyin, whose next move could either calm rising tensions or push Ese-Odo deeper into a full-blown political crisis.

Below is the full text of the explosive letter:

AROGBO IJAW IBE YOUTH COUNCIL (AIIYC)

OPEN LETTER TO HON. ALLEN OLUWATOYIN, MHA, ESE-ODO STATE CONSTITUENCY

A SECOND TERM BID THAT THREATENS THE DELICATE BALANCE OF ESE-ODO

1st, May, 2026

Dear Honourable Allen Oluwatoyin,

We write with a deep sense of responsibility and urgency regarding your declared intention to seek the second term as a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly representing Ese-Odo Constituency.

Let it be stated clearly: your ambition, at this time and under existing political arrangements, raises serious concerns across Arogbo Kingdom and beyond.

Since 1997, Ese-Odo Local Government has sustained a fragile but effective political understanding between Apoi and Arogbo blocs, one that ensures equity, inclusion, and peaceful coexistrotational representation.

This understanding is not casual; it is the foundation upon which relative peace and political stability in our local government have rested.

Your predecessors, who were men of influence, capacity, and strong political backing, respected this arrangement.

They subordinated personal ambition to collective peace. That legacy of restraint is what has kept Ese-Odo from avoidable political crises.

Your current decision to seek re-election, in direct contradiction to this established understanding, is therefore widely viewed as a deliberate disruption of that balance.

Honourable, sir, leadership is not only about power but also about restraint, respect for collective agreements, and sensitivity to the consequences of one’s actions. At a time when unity is most needed, your move risks reopening fault lines that history has taught us to manage carefully.

We must be frank that, this path you have chosen is generating growing tension and dissatisfaction. It is a course that many believe could erode trust, deepen divisions, and destabilize the harmony we have worked hard to preserve.

We therefore call on you, in the interest of peace, equity, and responsible leadership, to immediately reconsider and withdraw your second term bid, and instead align with the long-standing rotational arrangement that has served Ese-Odo well.

This is not merely a political appeal. It is a call to protect the peace, dignity, and unity of our people.

History will remember those who chose personal ambition over collective stability and those who, when it mattered most, chose the path of wisdom and restraint.

We urge you to choose wisely.

Yours faithfully,

Comr. Shoki Gbadia,

President.

Comr. Doubra Kiriki,

Secretary.
