Lagos Announces Temporary Road Closures Ahead Of Tinubu’s Visit
The Lagos State Government has announced temporary traffic restrictions across key parts of the state in preparation for project inaugurations scheduled during the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Transportation, authorities stated that the road closures will take effect on April 8 and 9, 2026, to ensure smooth movement, security, and safety during the official events.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed that major locations including Ikeja, Ojota, Ajegunle, and Victoria Island will experience traffic disruptions due to the scheduled activities.
On Wednesday, April 8, traffic around Opebi, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, and Ojota will be restricted between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for the inauguration of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge.
Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes during this period to avoid delays.
Events will continue on Thursday, April 9, with another round of traffic adjustments.
The first event is scheduled to take place at the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., with expected congestion around Olodi Apapa and adjoining roads.
Later in the day, activities will shift to Eko Hotel in Victoria Island from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., where increased traffic is anticipated due to security arrangements and large gatherings.
The government noted that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic flow and assist commuters across affected areas.
Residents and road users have been urged to cooperate with traffic officials, adhere to directives, and plan their movements in advance.
Authorities emphasised that the restrictions are temporary and necessary to ensure the successful execution of the scheduled events.
