A Tragic Assault on Innocent Lives’ — Ondo Mourns Woro Attack, Commiserates with Kwara

The Ondo State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly attack on Woro community in Kwara State, describing the incident as a tragic development that has claimed innocent lives and disrupted the peace of the area.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, the state government said it received the news of the attack with “profound sadness,” noting that the incident underscores the persistent security challenges confronting parts of the country.
According to the statement, the Ondo State Government sympathised with the Kwara State Government and its people, particularly Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as well as families of the victims and residents of Woro community affected by the violence.

“The Government and people of Ondo State stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Kwara State at this very difficult time,” Ajanaku said, assuring them of Ondo State’s “support and solidarity” in the face of the tragedy.
The government also offered prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the attack, while asking God to grant “comfort, strength and healing” to their families. It further wished those injured during the incident a “quick and complete recovery.”
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and national unity, the Ondo State Government stressed that acts of violence must not be allowed to threaten the safety of communities or undermine the unity of the country, calling for sustained collaboration to combat all forms of insecurity.

The statement also commended President Bola Tinubu for what it described as a swift response to the incident, praising the deployment of a battalion of military personnel to the affected areas to help restore peace and security.
