TINUBU RETURNS TO NIGERIA AFTER ABU DHABI SUSTAINABILITY SUMMIT, SIGNS ECONOMIC DEAL WITH UAE
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria today, Saturday, after participating in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) alongside some members of his cabinet.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Nigeria signed a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the sidelines of the summit.
The agreement is aimed at deepening economic cooperation, boosting bilateral trade and investment, enhancing technology transfer, and expanding collaboration across critical sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining, and renewable energy.
In his address at the summit, President Tinubu announced that a joint Nigeria–UAE INVESTOPIA will be held in Lagos in February, an initiative designed to attract global investors and strengthen Nigeria’s investment profile.
The President also revealed that Nigeria is targeting the mobilisation of up to $30 billion annually in climate and green industrial finance, as the country accelerates its energy transition reforms and works towards expanding nationwide electricity access.
Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s commitment to sustainable development, climate action, and strategic international partnerships aimed at driving long-term economic growth.
