The first day of 2026 was a day of joy, celebration, and togetherness in Gbaramatu Kingdom as His Royal Majesty, Oboro Gbarun II, Aketepe Agadagba, Pere of Gbaramatu, personally welcomed the New Year with his people at the Palace Ground in Oporoza.
The celebration was a lively display of culture and community spirit. From traditional music to colorful dances, the event brought residents, indigenes, and well-wishers together in a shared moment of happiness. The Pere moved among the crowd, greeting families, engaging with children and youths, and exchanging words with elders and chiefs, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.
Prominent dignitaries and personalities added grandeur to the occasion. Among those present were Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly; Mr. Matthew Tonlagha, Chairman, Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited; High Chief Nelson Ogelegbanwei (JP); High Chief Asike Miebi; Chief Julius Tonfawei; Chief Felix Edeku; Chief Christopher Omula; Chief James Miyenteide; and Elder Amos Okoro, Chairman of the Happy Men’s Club.
