Gbaramatu Kingdom Kicks Off 2026 with Peace, Culture, and Togetherness

The first day of 2026 was a day of joy, celebration, and togetherness in Gbaramatu Kingdom as His Royal Majesty, Oboro Gbarun II, Aketepe Agadagba, Pere of Gbaramatu, personally welcomed the New Year with his people at the Palace Ground in Oporoza.

The celebration was a lively display of culture and community spirit. From traditional music to colorful dances, the event brought residents, indigenes, and well-wishers together in a shared moment of happiness. The Pere moved among the crowd, greeting families, engaging with children and youths, and exchanging words with elders and chiefs, creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere.

Prominent dignitaries and personalities added grandeur to the occasion. Among those present were Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly; Mr. Matthew Tonlagha, Chairman, Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited; High Chief Nelson Ogelegbanwei (JP); High Chief Asike Miebi; Chief Julius Tonfawei; Chief Felix Edeku; Chief Christopher Omula; Chief James Miyenteide; and Elder Amos Okoro, Chairman of the Happy Men’s Club. Their presence highlighted the importance of the occasion and the close relationship between the monarchy and the people.

The New Year Day celebration reflected the Pere’s commitment to unity, peace, and cultural heritage, while also strengthening the bond between the throne and the people. It was a day of smiles, music, and shared hope, setting an uplifting tone for Gbaramatu Kingdom as it stepped into 2026
