The Okomu Patriotic Front, led by Chief Lawrence Yanbor has stated in clear terms that, the Okomu people’s right to self-determination is sacrosanct, and warns against Omosede Igbinedion’s provocative statements, calling for government intervention to maintain peace in Edo State.
According to the statement issued by leaders of the community, they argue that as original inhabitants, they have the constitutional right to self-determination and should not require permission from anyone, including Omosede Igbinedion, to pursue this goal.

It need to be stated right here that the OKOMU people and indeed the Ijaw man in Edo State are original aborigines of their territories they inhabit and they do not need the permission or consent of an Omosede IGBINEDION to aspire or opt to belong to Toru Ibe state howsoever as they reserve the constitutional right to self determination recognized under the Constitution.
We hereby sound serious warning and indeed with utmost seriousness that this violent and disgraceful tendencies of Omosede be halted immediately as her reckless and unguarded comments and rhetoric is capable of causing serious harm with unimaginable consequence.
OKOMU people and Ijaw people in Edo State are peace loving people and not slaves to Omosede or whoever she is working for.
We call in the Edo State government to reign in OMOSEDE before she decides to shatter the prevailing peace in the state due to her unguided comments.
We equally call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to call OMOSEDE G IGBINEDION to order and halt her reckless and provocative statements.
If it pleases Omosede that she has no meaningful contributions to make on the floor of the House of Reps she should simply keep quite sit down and listen to those who have something reasonable to say.
We equally call on the Speaker House of Representative Dr Tajudeen Abbas to stop Omosede from using the platform of the hallowed Chamber of the House to promote hate speech and cause crisis through her hateful comments scheming and shenanigans against fellow citizens that are law abiding.
The OKOMU people just like other ijaws in Edo state hereby reaffirm our irrevocable readiness to join forces with other concerned ijaws in the unrelenting struggle for the actualisation of the creation of the proposed Toru Ibe state which will include OKOMU kingdom and all the Ijaw people in Edo State aimed at improving the lives of our people.
Omosede should not test our resolve on this issue let her allow peace to reign as OKOMU people and indeed all Ijaws are ready to legitimately defend our acenstral heritage under the LAW.
