AJAPA KINGDOM ANNOUNCES 16TH ANNUAL AJAPA DAY CELEBRATION 2025

The Ajapa Kingdom has announced plans to host the 16th Annual Ajapa Day Celebration, a four-day cultural and developmental festival scheduled to hold from Friday, December 19 to Monday, December 22, 2025.

According to the programme released by the organisers, the celebration will bring together indigenes, traditional rulers, community leaders, and invited guests to promote unity, culture, and development within the kingdom.

Activities will commence on Friday, December 19, with an inter-denominational revival service slated for 4:00pm at the CCC Parish Platform, alongside a quiz competition involving R.C.G. and C.C.C Parish 1.

The second day, Saturday, December 20, will feature canoe regatta, traditional rallies, boat races, football matches, and a mathematics competition for SS3 students, highlighting both cultural heritage and youth development.

Events on Sunday, December 21, will include cannon shots, traditional rallies, cultural dances, and an educational lecture titled “The Level of Educational Development in Ajapa Kingdom: An Assessment of the Past, Present and the Future.” The day will also feature cultural displays by various families, as well as the Modern and Miss Ajapa competition, followed by a night party.

The grand finale on Monday, December 22, will witness the launch of a ₦3.5 million radio house, alongside boat racing, swimming competitions, and a unity football match between Ajapa United and Ajapa Unity Football Team, marking the official end of the celebrations.

The event is slated to hold under the royal leadership of His Royal Majesty, Pere Godwin Akpoko-Okujola (Rtd), Abobewari, the Igbada of Ajapa Kingdom, Edo State.

Dignitaries expected at the event include the Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Chief Ekperikpe Ekpo, who will serve as Special Guest, while Engineer Solomon Obodo is the Special Guest of Honour. Also listed as Guests of Honour are High Chief (Dr.) Mike Magwen, Hon. A.O. Amaka, Hon. Abdullahi Igbinedion, and Barrister G.O. Oye.

The Royal Father of the Day is His Imperial Majesty, Pere Zacchaeus Doubra Egbunu, JP, Opukutu III, the Agadagba of Arogbo-Ijaw Kingdom.

Organisers described the celebration as a platform to strengthen cultural identity, foster unity, and drive development initiatives within Ajapa Kingdom, while inviting members of the public to participate in the historic event.
