The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has extended warm felicitations to two of Nigeria’s most revered statesmen; Former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Victor Attah; as they mark their milestone birthdays, turning 68 and 87, respectively.

In a congratulatory message signed by the National Chairman of PANDEF, Amb. Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, the Forum described both leaders as “fathers of the nation” whose remarkable contributions continue to shape Nigeria’s political, economic, and socio-cultural landscape.

According to PANDEF, the South-South geopolitical zone remains especially grateful for the roles played by Dr. Jonathan and Obong Attah in advancing the interests of the Niger Delta and promoting national unity. Their efforts in strengthening fiscal federalism, particularly through the championing of the 13% derivation principle and the push for environmental remediation, were highlighted as landmark achievements that have left indelible marks on the region.

The Forum also acknowledged their outstanding accomplishments across various fields; academia, architecture, governance, politics, and public service; stating that their legacies continue to inspire generations toward excellence, patriotism, and service to humanity.

“As you enter this new chapter, we pray for your continued good health, peace, and joy,” the statement reads. “May God fulfill His promise: ‘With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation’ (Psalm 91:16).”

PANDEF, on behalf of the people of the South-South, wished the statesmen a blessed birthday celebration and applauded their steadfast commitment to the progress of the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.

Happy Birthday, Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Obong Victor Attah!
