From Aso Rock to Yenagoa: First Lady’s Renewed Hope Feeds Bayelsa’s Vulnerable Families
It was a day of joy and gratitude in Bayelsa State on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, as Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri, wife of the Bayelsa State Governor, warmly received the representative of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, at a humanitarian event that lit up the state with renewed hope and excitement.
The First Lady, who was represented by Her Excellency, Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, visited Bayelsa for the official handover of food items to vulnerable households, low-income earners, and women’s groups across the state under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Food Outreach Scheme.
Expressing her excitement, Dr. Gloria Diri described the moment as one filled with compassion, unity, and service to humanity.
“I was so delighted yesterday, Tuesday 4/11/2025, as I once again hosted the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, who was represented by Her Excellency, Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President of Nigeria, in Bayelsa State,” Dr. Diri said.
She noted that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Renewed Hope agenda — aimed at uplifting the less privileged and promoting inclusive development across all states of the federation.
“Her visit, this time, was to officially hand over food items to vulnerable groups, households and low-income earners through the Food Outreach Scheme of the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI,” she explained.
The event saw hundreds of beneficiaries, mostly women and widows have received food packages amid songs, smiles, and dancing. According to Dr. Diri, the display of joy among the recipients was a reflection of the impact of the programme in improving lives and supporting families during challenging economic times.
“Seeing the smile and joy on the faces of the many women who received their portion of the food items as they danced, was satisfying, knowing that the various RHI interventions are fostering social and economic growth in Bayelsa State,” she remarked warmly.
Dr. Diri also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her consistent demonstration of empathy and leadership through the Renewed Hope Initiative, describing the First Lady as a “mother to the nation.”
“I cannot reserve my appreciation. Thank you, our dear mother, Your Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON. Bayelsa is grateful,” she concluded.
The RHI Food Outreach Scheme is part of the broader Renewed Hope Initiative launched by the First Lady to cushion the effects of economic hardship, empower women, and promote national unity through humanitarian interventions in every state of the federation.
As the outreach continues across the country, Bayelsa’s latest participation underscores the collective drive by federal and state actors to ensure that no Nigerian is left behind in the quest for a more inclusive and compassionate nation.
