President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has reaffirmed his company’s commitment to stabilising Nigeria’s fuel supply chain, pledging to deploy 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks for the nationwide distribution of petrol from the newly commissioned Dangote Refinery.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the facility, Dangote expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, the refinery’s technical partners, the company’s dedicated workforce, and the Nigerian public for their continued support since operations commenced.

He gave special commendation to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for mobilising its members to register for the refinery’s free distribution initiative, which will be powered by CNG trucks to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.

Highlighting the progress made, Dangote showcased some of the trucks already loading petrol from the refinery and assured that the full fleet of 4,000 CNG-powered vehicles would be operational across the country in the coming weeks.

He also moved to reassure Nigerians of the safety of the initiative, stressing that security agencies remain fully empowered to protect drivers, trucks, and critical infrastructure.

“Nigeria is a country governed by the rule of law, and with the support of our security institutions, we are confident that this nationwide distribution system will operate seamlessly while driving down costs and building a stronger economy,” Dangote stated.

Industry experts say the refinery’s decision to use CNG-powered trucks marks a significant step towards reducing dependency on diesel, lowering transportation costs, and advancing Nigeria’s energy transition agenda.
