Nigerian culinary star Hilda Baci has set a new Guinness World Record for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian jollof rice, weighing an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz).

The record-breaking milestone was achieved in collaboration with food brand Gino during a special event at Victoria Island, Lagos, and has now been officially certified by Guinness World Records.

Sharing the confirmation on Monday via X (formerly Twitter), Guinness World Records announced:
“New record: Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”

Baci, who first gained global attention with her cook-a-thon in 2023, has once again spotlighted Nigerian cuisine on the international stage.

In the build-up to the attempt, Guinness World Records had shown support by reposting a video of the event, wishing her luck with the message: “What’s cookin’? Best of luck to @hildabacicooks who’s attempting a new record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice today.”

The cooking challenge, staged at Eko Hotel and Suites, drew a huge audience, including celebrities, fans, and food lovers eager to witness the historic accomplishment.

With this success, Hilda Baci further cements her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most prominent chefs and a cultural icon.
