Tinubu orders immediate employment for 200 corps members, N250K cash awards

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate employment of 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service. Each of the awardees will also receive a cash prize of ₦250,000 for their exemplary service during the 2020 to 2023 service years.

In addition, President Tinubu extended support to 10 physically challenged former corps members who sustained injuries during their service. He directed that they also be employed by the federal government, assuring them that their sacrifices will not be forgotten.

The President, represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, gave the directive during the NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja. He commended the recipients for their dedication, discipline, patriotism, and integrity, noting that their employment process would begin immediately under the oversight of the Head of Civil Service and the Federal Civil Service Commission.

Alongside employment and monetary awards, all honorees regardless of physical condition will be awarded scholarships for postgraduate studies at any Nigerian university.

“In recognition of your service to the nation, each honoree will be given ₦250,000, and granted a scholarship for postgraduate studies within the country,” the President announced.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth development, stating that various initiatives have been rolled out in education, skills acquisition, technology, and innovation to empower young Nigerians.

President Tinubu also urged the honorees and the broader youth population to remain hopeful and resilient, and not to be swayed by forces trying to destabilize the country.

Nunaya Polycarp Nunaya (Kwara State, from Adamawa)
Okpogbo Alvin Chinedu (Cross River, from Imo)
Dr. Ugwa Obinna Mark (Cross River, from Abia)
Rabiu Quadri Mayokun (Rivers, from Osun)

Female category:

Akase Pati Ence Nguwasen (Gombe, from Benue)
Igwe Anne Chikaodi (Sokoto, from Enugu)

Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, applauded President Tinubu’s dedication to supporting Nigerian youth, describing his presence via representation as proof of his genuine commitment. He praised the honorees for embodying the values of hard work, innovation, and moral integrity, urging them to continue being role models.

He also reaffirmed the government’s focus on initiatives to promote youth employment, particularly in tech, renewable energy, and leadership development.
