The Ondo State Security Network, known as Amotekun, announced over the weekend that its operatives recovered stolen property valued at more than ₦300 million.

Speaking in Akure, the state capital, the Corps Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, stated that seven individuals were arrested in connection with different criminal activities as part of ongoing operations aimed at reducing crime in the state.

He revealed that the recovered items, mainly mobile phones and electronic gadgets were stolen in Lagos and transported to Ondo State via the Ojota Motor Park.

Adeleye explained that some of the suspects were members of a syndicate specializing in electronic theft. One of them allegedly boarded the same vehicle transporting the goods, transferred the items into empty cartons during the trip, and attempted to disguise them.

“The theft was uncovered when the vehicle stopped to refuel, leading to an investigation that resulted in the recovery of the stolen items,” he said.

According to him, the goods belong to a licensed electronics dealer in the state and will be returned once court documentation is completed.

Amotekun also paraded suspects involved in a recent kidnapping case. Adeleye disclosed that two people abducted on Itagbolu Road six days earlier were rescued after a 96-hour search in the forest.

“The kidnappers initially demanded a ₦50 million ransom, but no payment was made,” he said, advising residents not to pay ransoms. “Most abduction cases we’ve handled in the past two months have been resolved without any ransom being paid.”

Among those presented to the public was a notorious gang leader who had been on the run for six months before being apprehended.
