In a bold and transformative move to balance gender advocacy and drive inclusive social growth, the Ondo State Government has brought Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s Sensitize the Boy-Child Initiative to the forefront of academic life at Oyemekun Grammar School and Aquinas College, at the state’s Capital, Akure.
Leading the charge was the Governor’s Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye, who passionately addressed the young male students on the urgent need for focused mentorship and deliberate investment in the development of the boy-child.
“We cannot continue to raise empowered girls and neglect the boys,” Dr. Osamaye declared. “A progressive society requires intentional nurturing of all its children—especially the boy-child who is often overlooked in gender-based empowerment programs.”
The sensitization campaign emphasized responsibility, mental health awareness, discipline, and the critical role of boys in shaping a just and equitable society. The message was clear: gender advocacy is not complete without lifting the boy-child alongside the girl-child.
The initiative, which has gained momentum across the state, is being hailed as a timely intervention aimed at curbing rising issues such as youth delinquency, substance abuse, and gender-based violence, by rooting solutions in education, dialogue, and mentorship.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration is redefining youth development—not as a gendered mission, but a holistic investment in the future of Ondo State.
