In a stunning and symbolic return to his roots, Governor of Ondo state, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has sent frenzy through the nation with a powerful gesture—ditching the seat of power for the whiteboard, he stepped back into a classroom to teach, in a moment now blazing across social media.
The now-viral footage, released via the Governor’s official Facebook page, captures Aiyedatiwa passionately engaging young pupils at an unnamed Ondo State school. Standing before a chalkboard with the word “Drugs” boldly written, he challenged the pupils to identify three forms of drugs, sparking spirited participation. The caption? “Once a teacher, always a teacher.”
This wasn’t just a photo op—it was a loud and clear statement.
Weeks earlier, in March 2025, Governor Aiyedatiwa had approved the recruitment of 1,100 primary school teachers across all 18 local government areas of Ondo State. That bold move is part of a sweeping transformation of the state’s education sector, funded under the 2023/2024 UBEC/SUBEB intervention.
The Governor didn’t stop at the blackboard. He doubled down on his commitment in a follow-up message detailing a wave of education-focused reforms. “Today, we took a significant stride toward a brighter future for our children,” Aiyedatiwa declared. “We flagged off the distribution of textbooks, Android tablets, and sports equipment to public schools across Ondo State.”
His post went on to outline massive investments and milestones: Construction and rehabilitation of classrooms in over 100 schools, Distribution of over 75,000 textbooks and digital learning tools, Provision of modern classroom furniture and learning facilities, Recruitment and empowerment of over 2,100 new teachers, Robust support for sports and extracurricular development
“These are not mere numbers—they are bricks in the foundation of a new Ondo,” Aiyedatiwa stated. “With every book, tablet, and sports kit, we are investing in the leaders of tomorrow. Together, we will continue to advance education, empower dreams, and unlock potential.”
As the video continues to gain traction, one thing is clear: Aiyedatiwa isn’t just governing—he’s teaching by example.
