Oyeneyin Hits Back at Sowore Over Atikase’s Advice to Governor Aiyedatiwa
Rotimi Oyeneyin, Special Assistant to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Commissioner on Media, has sharply criticized Allen Sowore, an aide to the Ondo State Governor, over his response to Hon. Otito Atikase’s advice to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Oyeneyin dismissed Sowore’s article as “ridiculously childish” and accused him of distorting Atikase’s well-intentioned counsel. Oyeneyin clarified that Atikase, a respected leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and key stakeholder, had merely offered advice, not issued a directive as Sowore suggested.
“Atikase’s position was aimed at fostering harmony between the Ondo State Government and the presidency. It is disingenuous to portray his advice as an attack on the Governor,” Oyeneyin stated.
He also took issue with Mr. Kayode Ajulo, the Ondo State Attorney General, over his public remarks concerning President Muhammadu Buhari, particularly in relation to a dispute involving Akoko youths. Oyeneyin condemned Ajulo’s attempt to drag Mr. Tunji Ojo, the Minister of Interior, into the controversy, warning that such actions could divide the party.
“It is reckless for a government official of Ajulo’s stature to openly criticize or engage in any verbal confrontation with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. No responsible leader should tolerate such an affront,” he added.
Oyeneyin emphasized that Atikase’s suggestion for the Governor to caution the Attorney General was a constructive approach, aimed at preventing unnecessary political friction. He called on the Ondo State Government to focus on infrastructure development and economic growth, rather than engage in divisive politics.
“The Governor and appointees of federal agencies should see themselves as partners in progress, not as rivals. Atikase’s history of commitment to the APC and the Ondo State Government’s success speaks for itself, and his advice was made in good faith,” he concluded.
He urged all well-meaning individuals to support efforts aimed at fostering peace, unity, and good governance in the state.
