The incident occurred on Wednesday night, according to Omolola Odutola, the Command’s public relations officer, who verified it to The PUNCH via email on Thursday. The Ogun State Police Command has officially declared the death of Olúwaṗeun Shorinola, 32, who is believed to have killed himself in the Kémta neighborhood of the state capital, Abeokuta.

According to a police spokesperson, Shorinola’s wife found him in his home, hanging from a wall. According to Odutola, Temitope Oguntade called Tajudeen Aremu on August 28, 2024, to report that her brother had been found dead by his wife. Oguntade then reported this information to the Kémta Police Division. When a police squad arrived on the site, they discovered Shorinola dead and hanging from a wall, suggesting that she had committed suicide.

The corpse was taken out of its hanging position. “Instead of having the body sent to the mortuary for an autopsy, the family asked to have it taken for burial. Odutola stated, “The cops are keeping an eye on the issue right now.

At least two sad instances of people taking their own lives occurred in Ogun State in April. Within hours of one another, 24-year-old Gift Bello leaped into a well, while Opeyemi Lateef perished from insecticide poisoning.
