Mr. Ezekiel SonAllah, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ondo State, shared these statistics during a press briefing in Akure, the state’s capital.

The data reveals that from April to June 2024, there were 90 crashes across the 18 local government areas of the state. These incidents resulted in 205 injuries and 41 fatalities. A total of 365 people were involved in these crashes, which also saw numerous traffic offenders arrested.

Commander SonAllah emphasized the persistent efforts of the FRSC to curb road accidents through various safety measures. He urged the public to adhere strictly to traffic rules, especially during the rainy season, citing that the leading causes of these accidents included speed limit violations, dangerous driving, and lack of concentration.

He reported that the accidents involved 356 vehicles. SonAllah stressed the importance of proper vehicle maintenance and the use of standard tyres to enhance road safety. He appealed to all road users to cooperate in making roads safer, highlighting that life is irreplaceable.

“Road safety is everyone’s business,” he stated, underscoring the collective responsibility needed to reduce road traffic crashes and save lives.
