100 widows and less privileged empowered by Governor’s aid in Ondo
Over 100 widows and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds have benefited from an empowerment initiative led by Michael Olakunle, the Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Mobilisation. Each beneficiary received N20,000, with Olakunle stating that the program aims to improve their living conditions.
He emphasized that widows and the less privileged deserve better lives and should not be overlooked, hence the initiative’s creation. This effort also aligns with his goal to bolster support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the upcoming governorship election.
Olakunle noted that widowhood is a particularly vulnerable situation that requires assistance, and he praised the people of Akure South for their support. He reiterated Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to investing in the welfare of marginalized community members for the state’s benefit.
He promised that more empowerment initiatives would follow, stating, “I am glad Akure kingdom is backing Aiyedatiwa’s vision for Ondo State.” He described this as the first phase of the project, with larger programs and more beneficiaries expected before the election.
One beneficiary, Mrs. Agnes Owonifari, commended the initiative and advocated for more efforts to combat poverty and marginalization among widows and orphans. Another beneficiary, Mrs. Bosede Aduloju, called it a timely intervention to help mitigate the rising cost of living.
