UPDATE: ₦463M OSOPADEC FUNDS – OFFICIAL QUERY RAISES RED FLAGS, SECRETARY BREAKS SILENCE
Following earlier reports by Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters on allegations surrounding the handling of ₦463 million in OSOPADEC project funds, the Secretary of the Commission, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, has issued a formal statement denying any wrongdoing.
In the statement made available to our correspondent, the Secretary said:
“My attention has been drawn to media reports and insinuations alleging that the sum of ₦400 million was misappropriated in connection with OSOPADEC.”
Princess Bayo-Ilawole declined to engage in what she described as media speculation, stating that:
“By virtue of my position as the most senior civil servant involved in OSOPADEC activities and my strategic role as the Secretary of the Commission, I consider it improper to engage in media propaganda, conjecture, or malicious publications that are clearly far from the truth.”
She maintained that her conduct remains in line with established rules and regulations, adding:
“Let me state, clearly and unequivocally, that I will continue to strictly adhere to the procedures and regulatory framework laid down by the Government of Ondo State in the discharge of my duties.”
The Secretary further asserted:
“I will not, under any circumstance, compromise the law guiding the operations of the Commission.”
Addressing public scrutiny of the matter, she stated:
“Where anyone has a genuine grievance or contrary position, the appropriate and lawful avenue remains due process, not trial by media.”
Concluding her statement, Princess Bayo-Ilawole declared:
“Above all, I will not collude to defraud my people. That is my position, and I stand by it.”
Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters reiterates that its initial report was based on documents, transaction records, and an official query reportedly issued within OSOPADEC. The allegations remain subject to investigation, and no judicial determination has been made against any individual named.
This update is published in line with the principles of fair hearing, balance, and responsible journalism. Further verified developments will be reported as they emerge.
